Triple APOD - September 26, 2024: Early Morning Aurora by Ray Wiens

Aurora are caused by changes in geomagnetic activity due to solar activity, collectively referred to as "space weather". The particularly active solar maximum we're in currently has led to an especially frequent and active stretch of aurora this past year, with hopefully plenty more shows to come! Great northern lights photos can be taken just with phones these days, so we look forward to seeing your submissions as the nights get longer heading into winter!
