What's the difference between birding and bird watching?
Nothing! Birding and bird watching are the same great hobby loved by thousands of nature lovers all round the world. Birding is a hobby that can be loved for a lifetime and always delivers new and exciting experiences where ever you happen to be.
Can I go birding with a telescope?
Absolutely! While it is easiest to bird with a pair of lightweight binoculars, birding from home with a telescope can be a great way to take in nature with a real up close and personal view.
Some telescopes may require a a prism to flip the world right side up again but that's about it!
I'm an astronomer or astrophotographer is birding a great hobby for me?
Without a doubt! Birding complements astronomy and astrophotography really well. While astronomy is mainly a night time activity, birding is an excellent day time activity. So when the sun it out you can point you optics downward and start to enjoy the majestic views that our own planet has to offer.
What binoculars should I get to go birding?
Binoculars are the best way to get up close to our feathered friends. We recommend finding a pair that has between 6 to 10 times magnification. Anything more than that and your view can get a bit shakey, anything less and you wont get a close enough view. Checkout our guide on picking binoculars here.
