Find the Right Binoculars for Your Kids at All Star Telescope
The benefit of buying a pair of binoculars is that you can use them for birding, astronomy, and nature viewing.
What We Look for in Kids Binoculars
The first thing we look for in kids binoculars is lower magnification. There are two reasons for this. The first is that lower magnification means a wider field of view, making it easier to find birds, star clusters, or anything else. The second is that lower magnification will be steadier for young hands that aren't trained to hold binoculars still.
A nice pair of 6x32 will still offer a nice bright view with an exit pupil >5mm. This is a great option for younger users.
The second thing we look for is price. There's a better than even chance that young kids are going to drop, scratch, lose, or otherwise damage their first paid of binoculars. It's good to start with something inexpensive to learn with.
We've selected some binoculars that we find work really well for kids of different ages. We recommend sticking with something to-like for kids under 10, Some of the Kowa's are suitable for older, responsible kids that won't abuse them.
Please note that the Lunt Solar binoculars are designed for kids 12 and up.
