Product Description

The Sky-Watcher SolarQuest solar tracking mount is lightweight and ridiculously easy to use. No need to worry about aligning your equipment the night before or early in the morning. Using its patented HelioFind solar finder and built-in GPS, SolarQuest automatically levels and calculates the azimuth and altitude of the Sun, all with the single push of a button. Once self-aligned, the mount locates and tracks the Sun for hours at a time. SolarQuest is perfect for eclipse chasers, educators who teach science and astronomy during the day, or anyone fascinated with our nearest star.

Tired of wasting half the day not staring into space? Can’t wait until the Sun goes down to start your observing sessions? Need to fulfill those science curriculum standards for your classroom? Already planning your next total solar eclipse road trip? Nothing makes observing our home star as easy and engaging as SolarQuest from Sky-Watcher.

Ideal for observing sunspots, planetary transits, transits of the International or Chinese Space Stations, and solar eclipses with a white light solar filter. Or, attach an H-Alpha solar filter and observe the roiling surface of the Sun directly along with tracking the daily changes in stormy prominences, filaments, plages, and even solar flares and coronal mass ejections.

SolarQuest is for solar observation only.

Sky-Watcher Solar Quest mount

I managed to try a friend’s SW Solar Quest mount in one of the recent star parties in Alberta. It was a very easy mount to setup and use for solar observing (visual and imaging) so I decided to buy one for myself and so far, it is working to perfection.

Perfect

It follows the sun perfectly in the center as soon as I weigh it at On, without any further manipulation

Sky-Watcher SolarQuest Mount (S21170)?

Nicholas at All-star shared this little gem with me one day. A mount that all you do is turn it on and to rest is history. I am amazed at it's very precise pointing ability and very accurate tracking for it's price point. Solar observer's like easy not hassle and the Solar Quest is a joy to use. Thanks to the great staff at All- Star for introducing it to many. The only mount made especially for Solar Observing.

Great product

It does exactly what it is supposed to do ... accurately track the sun. The only issue I had was trying to use it before its search for the sun was finished, so now I'm patient. I used it a few days ago and it tracked the sun for 1.5 hours without needing to be tweaked to keep the sun centred in SharpCap. Because I have a Coronado PST I had to rotate the dovetail 90º to mount the PST on a Star Adventurer fine-tuning mounting assembly so that the PST eyepiece holder was pointing up.
