Product Description

Housed in a 2" barrel like the 35mm, the 27mm is lighter & smaller. It's perfect for any telescope size, type or speed, where a little more magnification is desired, yet still allows full field viewing with eyeglasses. For example, with the TeleVue-85, it gives 22x and a true field of 2.9 degrees!

Using my Wide-Field design as a starting point, I looked to bring Nagler-like performance to the 60+° field class with the Panoptic series. The idea of a lens to "interface" between the eyepiece and Barlow struck me as the proper way to keep size, weight and cost to a minimum while improving edge of field performance even further. I later developed this idea into the Powermates. — Al Nagler

Who knew Saturn had moons?

What an improvement over the rest. Haven't had a decent test of this yet, but in between recent snowstorms Titan and Rhea could be seen. Nice crisp views edge to edge.

Tele Vue 27mm Panoptic

First, I would like to acknowledge the speed and care All-Star Telescope shipped this eyepiece. I prepared for a 5-7 day wait, planning my night of stargazing in advance, but it arrived in 3 days! Thanks All-Star Telescope!

Now, the 27mm Panoptic is amazing. I've gotten the chance to use it in my backyard as well as a truly dark sky town. The telescope I used it in is a Celestron OmniXLT 102 and the views are extremely clear all the way to the edge of the FOV. I love the wider FOV, making it easier to star hop and find what I'm looking far. It's telling when I have other eyepieces, but I didn't change it out the whole first few nights because the views were so good. Definitely worth the price!

An incredible eyepiece

Tele vue 27 Panoptic is an excellent deep-sky eyepiece for everyday use. For every observation session at night, 27 Panoptic is always my first eyspiece to use because of its very large field of view, incredibly sharp image and wonderful contrast.
